Course Dates: July 2 to July 15, 2012
Application Deadline: May 4, 2012  The deadline has passed.
  • Explore the possibilities of the guitar in solo playing and various chamber combinations and become familiar with “playing with others.”
  • Many aspects of music will be explored – baroque ornamentation and 19th century classical performance practice, modern, and the experimental – to help participants find their own voices and manners of expression on the instrument.
  • In addition to performing solo, participants will be placed in chamber ensembles.
  • Receive intensive guitar training with masters of the instrument, as well as chamber music techniques that you will need for a successful career in music.
  • Through collaborations and solo concerts, workshops, demonstrations and masterclasses, participants will interact with masters of the instrument in a unique and intimate manner. 
  • Practice improvisation and arranging on the guitar. 
  • This workshop will culminate in a public performance of student work.


Undergraduate: MUSIC 422, 3 units
Graduate: MUSIC 622, 3 units

This course is open to classical guitarists of an intermediate to advanced level.
