Storytelling through Animation: The Production Studio

Storytelling through Animation: The Production Studio | June 28 to July 11, 2008
  • In this workshop we will produce an animated “short.”

  • This 3D animation will be a blend of key-frame animation and motion capture.

  • The completed animation will be digitally scored in the New Frontiers in Digital Music and Media workshop.

  • The Summer Arts Symphony Orchestra will then perform the original score. This conducted performance will be accompanied by our animation.

  • Students will be part of an animation production team that learns the following:

    • How to direct actors in a motion capture studio

    • Apply that motion capture performance to a 3D character

    • Key-frame facial expressions, eyes and camera movement

    • Integrate the character in 3D environments; this includes lighting and shading

    • How to render to a distributed Render Farm

  • If you want to add to your animation portfolio, this workshop is for you!

  • This workshop will culminate in a public presentation of the animated short.
